Sputnik Light, one-dose version of Sputnik V vaccine


Russia has approved a single-dose version of the Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine “Sputnik Light” after it showed almost 79.4% efficacy and would cost less than $10 a dose, according to the state-run fund that backed its development.

One injection of Sputnik Light “significantly reduces the possibility of severe cases leading to hospitalization.

Phase I and Phase II results of the single-dose Sputnik Light vaccine found the shot demonstrated safety for all subjects and no serious adverse events were registered.

The single dose regimen solves the challenge of immunizing large groups in a shorter time, which is especially important during the acute phase of the spread of coronavirus, achieving herd immunity faste.
